Rory travelled to Perthshire recently for the SAOS Council meeting and AGM, hosted by former NFU Scotland President Martin Kennedy at his farm near Aberfeldy.
It was a fantastic setting for an important day of discussion around co-operation and collaboration within Scottish agriculture, as well as an opportunity to see Martin’s farming business first-hand. And, judging by the impressive crop in the polytunnel, it seems Martin is pretty good at growing tomatoes too!
Rory is the current Chair of SAOS, Scotland’s experts in farmer co-ops and food industry collaboration. SAOS works with farmers, food businesses and others across the sector to encourage collaboration, strengthen supply chains and help rural businesses work more effectively together.
Meetings such as the Council and AGM provide a valuable opportunity to share ideas, discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector and, importantly, consider how greater co-operation can help build strong and resilient farming and food businesses across Scotland.
